I’ve been involved with horses most of my life. I started out in the English world with countless hours trail-riding with my mother in an English saddle. Then onto hunter/jumpers, eventing, and dressage. I was on the Board and President of a local Pony Club for several years. I became involved with mounted shooting seven years ago. Since then I have become an L6 shooter. My husband, Mark and myself have traveled all over the United States and Canada competing and have gained a world of experience. During that time, I have taken clinics and lessons with multiple pro-level shooters, and with each instructor I have learned and absorbed some of their knowledge of the sport and have implemented that into my own style of training and shooting. In 2017, I accomplished being the CMSA Ladies High-Point Champion and the first lady ever to be CMSA Open-High Point Shotgun Champion. With that being said, most shooters know me as the lady shooter wearing a dress in the rifle and shotgun classes.
Recently, Mark and I have helped start the first ever CMSA club in Ontario, Canada. We are excited to watch the sport grow and to bring our knowledge of cowboy mounted shooting to this part of the country. I do most of my clinics and training in this region. However, my passion is in rifle and shotgun, and I offer my clinics and lessons in both Canada and the USA for these mounted shooting classes.
My training is encouraging and enthusiastic, with some straight-out forwardness mixed in. My goal is for every shooter and horse to have had positive experience when they leave a lesson, and to have become more confident in the sport. Training and giving lessons is not my job, I do it for pure enjoyment. For me, seeing my students, whether rider or horse, do well and leave the arena feeling happy and with a smile on their face – That is why I train.
